THE ASK
"Under the Banner of Heaven" offers a compelling and thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche against the backdrop of fundamentalist Mormonism. How do we quickly capture the essence and complex dynamic of religious representation and the clash between tradition and modernity in one visual bite for an opening title card.

THE SOLUTION
I had the pleasure of collaborating with creative director and friend Heidi Berg to explore different title treatments and opening title card designs for FX’s Under The Banner of Heaven - playing upon our familiarity with religious-themed typography, merging the traditional with the modern, and visually representing the obscuring and blurring of the lines of integrity.

A little bit of religion mixed with a sprinkle of moral ambiguity.
